How KY Home Performance Works

Certified professionals will perform a comprehensive, home-energy evaluation and present you with a report that identifies where your house is wasting energy and money.  This report will help you decide the improvements you want made to your house.

Certified KY Home Performance (KHP) contractor/evaluator or approved installers will make necessary improvements.  All homes receive whole-house energy evaluations by trained Building Performance Institute-certified professionals.

To help you make this important investment in your home, KY Home Performance offers a rebate of up to $2,000 or financing for qualified homeowners up to $20,000 for qualified improvements at a low, 6.99 percent interest rate. (Terms and conditions apply.)

Begin by completing a FREE self-assessment.  This tool allows you to enter your last 12 months of energy bills and some basic information about your house, then analyzes your energy efficiency based on similar homes in your area.

  • Educates homeowner on process, building functions, and incentives
  • Conducts blower door test and home diagnostics
  • Provides comprehensive overview of home’s energy performance and what work will be most cost-effective to lower energy demand
  • Helps homeowner with financing and either provides the installation work or helps to find a KHP-approved installer
  • Performs home energy efficiency improvements at the request of the homeowner as recommended by the evaluation
  • The installer may be employed by and work directly with the evaluator or work for same firm as the evaluator
  • Conducts blower door test and home diagnostics
  • Verifies correct installation of home-energy improvements
  • Provides homeowner with evaluation of home-energy performance after the investment and helps project energy savings (Actual cost savings can be affected by energy prices and homeowner behavior.)
  • Completes KHP file for the homeowner to process rebates, loans, and approve payment for the work
